Overland began beside a burning campfire one crisp Tassie night by three friends who believed they could blaze a new trail in Tasmanian whisky.

With combined decades of experience in the craft beer, wine and spirits industries, founders Rob, Nathan and Dave agreed it was time to venture beyond the status quo.

Enter the Boilermaker.

Whisky and beer have a natural affinity. Both are made from grain, and whisky is essentially distilled beer. Serving both beverages as a pairing, called a "Boilermaker," is akin to pairing wine with food — it takes skill and experience.

Rob, Nathan and Dave were
ready to put their Boilermaker
skills to the test.

With the dream of combining the creativity of craft beer with their love of classic whiskies, they wondered if it was possible to create the perfect boilermaker from the ground up…

The three founders set to building an urban brewery & distillery to serve as basecamp for their exploration of flavour from grain, yeast, hops, and oak.

It would be a space where beer and whisky could be crafted, sipped and celebrated side by side.

Blazing a new trail.
